I had to go to the bank today in the middle of work, and the car was reporting a temperature of around 4 in the sun. I was close to home so I figured I might as well go for a first ride of the year back to work! Apparently, I'm not the only one. When I was in SGI doing the registration a couple days ago they told me they have been plating bikes all day for a couple days.

The main roads are mostly all dry and dirt free, so it was a great ride. There dwas little water patches here an there for the path that I had to take, but it was otherwise great. The tires stuck pretty good, though I wasn't really willing to push them. Cagers didn't seem too caught off guard. I assume most of them are expecting to start seeing us.

Anyway, if you live on a main road, or don't have to take still icy ones to get around, then I'd say we're pretty much good to go in the afternoon (being careful for dirt patches of course)! Guess it's time I start thinking about buying some pants to go with my other gear.

At the very least, this week and next week are looking great temperature wise. The 14 day is showing that 2 weeks from now might suck though.

Unfortunately there is still a lot of ice in my parking lot so I'm going to wait it out for a bit yet.  Shouldn't be too much longer I imagine.

It must be a lot nicer up in Saskatoon. On my street, I justed started seeing patches of asphalt threw the snow late last week.

Thinking I might try and fire mine up on the weekend and get her ready to ride.  Its supposed to be near double digits here mid next week.  If it is, I'll take it to work for the afternoon.

The main streets around here are pretty much dry now.  Even on our street I might be able to get by without even getting the tires wet.

The bike is pretty dirty. I suppose that's a bit of a problem with taking it out so early. Maybe I'm just too anal.

Yeah I think mine might be coming out this weekend.  Even if it is just for a quick trip so its ready when the weather gets nice.  I have to go to regina next weekend and I hate taking the truck when the bike is out...

If I was in Saskatoon right now I'd be out there.  Regina is still sketchy for bringing the bike out.

Ditto.

Seems that S'toon is in a bit better shape than we are in Regina. Remember to be very careful when you're out there this early!!

That's why I ride my BSA this time of year. I wouldn't be out on a bike with near vertical steering head, rear sets and clip ons this time of year either.

Yeah, the roads here are mostly great. Have to watch the roads at the corners, but on the main roads where traffic has mostly pushed dirt to the side, it is awesome. Saskatoons roads didn't get a whole lot of dirt this year anyway. The last little bit that we did get would have been mostly picked up by the grader and gigantic snow blower during the snow removal.

It actually barely snowed this year. It especially sucked cause the snow up at table was horrendous. At least I got out to fernie and castle a few times.

Saw a couple going down 4th now too.

Just got back from the first ride.  Saw a few others out in Weyburn.  Most of the streets are good.  Driving lanes on the main strests are great, dry and clean.  Little cool, but loved it all the same.
