My buddy had an 89 with 35000ish km on it and it still ran like a top...until he crashed it.

6500 for a new 08 sounds super to me. Better looking than the Gladius that replaced it IMO.

i paid 6500 and now there is one in winnipeg for 5800 but hey thats the way it goes.   can't wait to get it picked up and do some tinkering on it cause i can't seem to leave anything alone.  and today i bought an 08 ninja 250 for my wife for 2500 bucks with 40000k on it so we are set for spring, except its in winnipeg, oh well.

Funny you should mention that.  I got to spend some time around one for one of the photoshoots for the calendar.  I really liked it, looked like a blast to ride too, but i couldn't get the "this is a chick bike" feeling out of my head.  Maybe it was just the paint scheme.   dunno  I kinda felt bad.  It looked like a very well built bike.

i feel like an idiot i mean 4000k, not 40. anyways my wife is super pumped cause she had a cbr 125 right now and is stepping up to the 250.  and the girlie feeling of the thing kinda had me hung up because the hp seems so low compared to an in-line 4, but i just love the idea of a twin. i did alot of research online before i committed to buying it and i have not found any real big complaints, actually some really good praise about the bike as a whole.  anyways thanks for all the comments , keep em coming

how much is a new 250?Huh    personally - i'd rather see a pile of them on the road instead of the 125 (nothing against the 125)

a new old stock  2008 250 runs you about 4600 bucks and a new 2010 is right around 5k, so the used 08 250s should be fairly reasonably priced but everyone seemd to want top dollar but like everything else they should take a big hit so i actually think the 2500 dollar tag is right where it should be but not where most think it should be.

Congrats on the purchases.  You will enjoy the SV.  I just left the stock exhaust on my 650 but have yosh pipes on my 1000 and that is a sexy rumble!  Yay for v-twins!

This is really interesting, sorry to be digging this thread up but I am looking for info on the Gladius as I was looking at one today. I'm not crazy about the looks of it, but there are a few things (like height off the ground and slim build) that are really nice for someone my height.

I agree it looks like a chick bike, but... seeing as I'm a chick and all it actually seems like it might be an ideal bike for me. I certainly didn't feel intimidated sitting on it. There seem to be good comments about the SV, think they will apply to the Gladius as well? I'd love a GSX-R but the price and the fact I can't touch the ground is making them a little out of reach. I'm suspecting that I'd probably enjoy an SV or the Gladius more.

why not look at the Kawasaki ER6n?    honestly...if it came down to a Gladius, i would go get a Ducati monster 696 or find a monster 695.  Buy the real one...   We got Taryns for 10.5 out the door, and the first two services are free.  Invigor has put over 40,000km's on his monster without a hitch. But you will get some nay sayer buttholes on here saying how bad the bike is...blah blah blah. i guess when john wins the free set of tires again on his unreliable monster 620 in the mileage contest we will see what they have to say.

but here is the Kwaka.

i really don't think there is any major weak points in the gladius when comparing it to a monster.....but i think the fact they blatantly copied it makes it so i just can't love it.   Grin

Hey thanks, I'm in Saskatoon and haven't seen a monster in awhile so I didn't even realize how close they were. Honestly I'm after a bike that's right for me, I'm not so worried about looks. I'd go get a gsxr right now if I was only in it for looks, but it's just a bit too much bike for me. I don't want to lower a bike to ride it. Really if it's the right bike and a price I can afford then I'm happy.

I had no idea the monster was actually in a price range I could (sort-of) consider, and that the seat height is actually lower than the gladius's. I guess the only bad thing is there's no where to buy or service one in Saskatoon? The more I look at the monster the more I like it lol! Any idea how hard it is to get a specific color?
