For those thinking of spring and getting on two wheels again.  Takes a while to get through this - kind of a readers digest of twist of the wrist.

HE DOESN'T BELIEVE IN REFERENCE POINTS?!?!?!?!?!???!!!!!!!!!!

After reading both twist of the wrist books this winter, I feel like a christian who just got told the bible is a bunch of lies: confused and ANGRY!!!

haha I'm only maybe a quarter of the way through and thats not the first glaring difference between Code's method I've noticed.  I guess we'll have to see who's right in the spring out at 3 flags.

I like my bikes how I like my girls...fast, naked and barely legal!

Slow and steady wins the race, but fast and reckless steals the show.

If it ain't broke...wait 3 laps.

After reading it, I don't think he meant take all your reference points and throw them in the garbage. From the way it reads, it almost sounds like it's an opening speech or lecture that this dude is giving to new students, always wanting them to “Ask him” or “Come to him”. Presumably it's geared to noobs in the racing world (ME!) and his comments on reference points is more to dissuade his students from being too ridged with references. Sure, a skilled rider is capable of riding so consistently that they can expect to start braking at point X, lap after lap. What, I think, he's trying to promote is for his students to try and create a mental image of what works and what doesn't work with repetition and experimentation.

I think teaching with reference points would provide immediate gains to inexperienced riders, if only to force them to try and be consistent. I also think that this author's methods might better equip riders to deal with situations that force them away from there references, be it debris or other riders on the track. One thing I do know, is all this is theory for me, and it's going to be a long bloody winter before I can start experimenting with either. Excellent article.
